What's New in BMC/Remedy CMDB 2.x - 12:30pm - 1:30pm

Major changes have been made to the CMDB application to become more in-line with ITIL guidelines and customer needs which will be addressed during this presentation. The biggest change to the CMDB v2.x application was moving the application to Deployable Application status. In addition, CMDB v2.x is required to be installed prior to any ITSM v7.x application and now requires an application license (no CMDB User fixed or floating licenses are required at this time). The CMDB v2.x data model had some significant changes made to it. For instance, some of the v1.x classes being renamed (BMC_AssetBase changed to BMC_BaseElement; BMC_NetworkPrinter changed to BMC_Printer) and other classes (BMC_Document) being added. The ability to track customizations to CMDB v2.x and to run Reconciliation Engine Jobs against selected classes/attributes has been enhanced with the upgrade of the Namespace option. These and more changes will be covered during the presentation. A CD of information relating to CMDB and other applications will also be provided to all attendees.

Kelly Deaver, with BMC, will discuss how to use BMC Enterprise Integration Engine, Remedy Link for Oracle and Remedy Link for SQL to integrate your automated inventory/discovery product with Atrium to achieve your goal. These products work seamlessly out of the box with BMC Configuration Manager but can also be adapted to your legacy database of inventory information. Klink-ARS 1.0.x Release - 12:30 pm 1:00 pm

Kinetic Link, or Klink, is a web framework that provides a consistent XML over HTTP interface for interacting with BMC Remedy Action Request System. The framework itself is written using Java Servlets and Apache Struts. Once Klink is running any language that can make HTTP requests and parse the XML results can be used to consume the framework.

The Panacea Workflow Studio is the unique migration, analysis and maintenance tool for AR System applications. This software is designed to automate migration of objects between server environments, facilitate performance improvement and enable Administrators to troubleshoot and better understand their applications.

Options For Data Transfer From One Remedy System To Another - 2:15 pm 2:45 pm

At General Mills we have developed some SQL scripts that can help automate the data transfer process and significantly reduce times. As an example, our last system upgrade required 3 people spending 9 hours to transfer the data from system to system. The scripts we have developed moved the data from the same forms but in an increased quantity in a 3 hour period.
Richard's presentation was engaging. Serious SQL code for you code enthusiast.
